The Globe Tavern
Probably one of my favourite buildings in town (how I refer to the now city of Preston).
It is currently the Hang Seng Oriental Supermarket at 120 Corporation Street, Preston PR1 2HE

The post started off as a question about the origins of the building, because I wasn't having much luck with the search engine results.
However, I was able to join the dots using the Preston Digital Archive and Steve Halliwell's PRESTON'S INNS, TAVERNS and BEERHOUSES website/blog.
The building was built in 1892, on the junction of Corporation Street and Heatley Street. Initially, I was struggling with what is perhaps a logo incorporating I S & L ( ...I thought that it could be another combination of those letters... 🤔 )

I understand that it was Tom's Tavern around 1983. It was also known as 'Method' in the period around 2012. It has also formerly been 'The Globe Inn', 'Nonno's' and 'Mercury Flux'. All ascertained from the Preston Digital Archive.

Information from Steve Halliwell's 'PRESTON'S INNS, TAVERNS and BEERHOUSES' website/blog would suggest that it started life as The Globe Tavern. Steve comments as follows:
1891 - 93
'MINE HOST' is Isaac Wilson Lawrence - Isaac Lawrence was a brewer at Ince Brewery, Wigan.
The house was re-built in 1892, presumably by this brewery?
The I S & L turned out to be I L & S for Isaac Lawrence & Sons.

Interestingly, there is a building of similar design on the edge of the site of the former Isaac Lawrence & Sons, Higher Ince Brewery that dates from 1881.

Isaac W Lawrence died in February 1916, his sons were wounded or lost in the First World War.
The Brewery plant was for sale in February 1917.
Isaac Lawrence may also have been involved with the Crown Brewery, Leigh to circa 1895.
The Brewery became a dairy and was then demolished circa 1978.
